Early warning systems are important components of disaster preparedness. Most of the time loss of lives and damage to properties are prevented with a good and functioning early warning systems at the community level. For the past 10 years, there have been many advancements in the area of early warning systems developed within government systems, academia and local community knowledge and practices. In this thematic discussion, we will learn from speakers sharing their experiences and practice of early warning systems in disaster preparedness.
